I'm Benjamin Tobler. I plan, build, and operate AI systems for Swiss companies — as an independent AI Engineer based in St. Gallen.
Currently, I lead agentic workflows for SAP migrations and historization at Data Migrations Solutions AG. Where manual migration-object analyses used to eat up days, agents now do the groundwork, escalate to humans in a structured way, and deliver audit-ready reports.
Before that, I spent five years delivering enterprise software projects at SBB, Emmi, adesso, and Online Consulting — mostly on Microsoft Power Platform and Dynamics 365, and on the OpenText platform at Emmi. At SBB, I was part of the team that shaped Power Platform governance for 15,000+ employees. That enterprise experience is now my foundation for AI projects with real compliance and scaling requirements.
I studied business informatics at OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule.
AI hype is cheap, productive AI is work. I deliver systems that run in production — with evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and a realistic view of what models can and cannot do.
I say no when a project is too small for AI, or when a use case would be better served by classical automation. A good discovery workshop often saves more money than any implementation.
Data residency, FADP, and the EU AI Act are not afterthought checklists. I plan architectures so that compliance is considered from the first model call onwards — Azure OpenAI Swiss region, on-premises models, or mixed setups.

Part of the team that shaped Power Platform governance for 15,000+ employees. Built the Center of Excellence, led technical projects, and ran training for citizen developers.
OpenText platform: operations, further development and customisation for business workflows and document management. Data migrations and incident management.
